Selecting a leased line provider can be something of a minefield, but there’s help on hand to avoid potentially expensive pitfalls. LeasedLine.co.uk is a new comparison website which offers extensive guidance when it comes to picking the best leased line ISP to suit your needs.

Regardless of whether a business needs just one location connected, or an entire network of sites, LeasedLine.co.uk covers all eventualities with a one-size-fits-all website questionnaire.

The questionnaire is a short affair which only takes a minute to complete, determining your primary needs such as the required speed of the line, optimal installation date and further factors driving your decision (improving service, adding more sites or benefiting from cost reductions).

Once those details have been filled in, LeasedLine.co.uk will send over a prompt email which comprises of free quotes from all the major leased line providers in the UK.

These include BT, Easynet, Virgin Media, Entanet, Global Crossing, Eclipse Internet and Colt.

Other money saving alternatives are also considered for prospective customers, for instance the use of providers who utilise ethernet and twisted copper. This can reduce costs by 50% or possibly more in comparison to a traditional leased line.

LeasedLine.co.uk’s evaluation process also encompasses bonded ADSL providers (which bond several DSL lines together) for those seeking a quick turnaround on installation.

LeasedLine.co.uk notes: “Our market leading bonded ADSL providers offer solutions which are installed in under 30 days and have very flexible terms and can replace non critical leased lines.”

The site’s many satisfied customers include Robert French, a Consultant at Capita Plc, who commented: “The process was easy and we got 7 quotes in under 24 hours.”

Along with the website quotation service, LeasedLine.co.uk has a phone line (0800 075 4433) staffed by experts in the field. The firm also offers a callback option.

Knowing your mobile broadband download limits will help you to avoid receiving a hefty bill. Broadband Expert states that your bills could rise by as much as £200 per extra gigabyte you download.

A popular broadband comparison site reveals that the 3 and O2 companies charge the highest rates per megabyte of excess data downloading, charging 19.6p and 10p respectively. Other companies can offer much lower rates, however, with Vodafone charging only 1.46p per megabyte (a total of £15 per gigabyte) while T-Mobile does not charge anything extra.

Rob Webber, the commercial director of Broadband Expert, has warned how difficult it can be to seek information on these excess charges and advises how essential it is to be thorough in your research since the fees can vary greatly between different service providers.

One example of these potentially devastating charges was reported by the Daily Mail. They report that British national, Will Pierce, got a bill of almost £22,000 after downloading movies during a skiing trip in France.
