Don’t get caught with high mobile broadband bills

Knowing your mobile broadband download limits will help you to avoid receiving a hefty bill. Broadband Expert states that your bills could rise by as much as £200 per extra gigabyte you download.

A popular broadband comparison site reveals that the 3 and O2 companies charge the highest rates per megabyte of excess data downloading, charging 19.6p and 10p respectively. Other companies can offer much lower rates, however, with Vodafone charging only 1.46p per megabyte (a total of £15 per gigabyte) while T-Mobile does not charge anything extra.

Rob Webber, the commercial director of Broadband Expert, has warned how difficult it can be to seek information on these excess charges and advises how essential it is to be thorough in your research since the fees can vary greatly between different service providers.

One example of these potentially devastating charges was reported by the Daily Mail. They report that British national, Will Pierce, got a bill of almost £22,000 after downloading movies during a skiing trip in France.
